The Characteristics Of The Army Profession - 864 Words

Trust is the foundational attribute that every professional Soldier should possess. Despite sustained military conflicts throughout the world over the past thirteen years, we have still been able to maintain firm belief in our reliability as an Army. When it comes to confidence from the public other organizations such as the police, the government, the media, and various other organizations do not have the same level of trust that the American people have in us. Trust is the most important of the five characteristics of the Army profession. Without trust we would lose the support of the American public, trust is the embodiment of our profession, and trust drives the four other characteristics of the Army profession. The Army exists for a solitary reason, which is to serve the Nation by defending the constitution of the United States of America. Our country places trust in the Army to defend our constitution against foreign and domestic enemies. It is our responsibility to prese rve this given responsibility at all cost. American Forces returned from direct involvement in Vietnam and great majorities of Soldiers at the time lost credibility for their role in the War. Public trust in the Army was at its lowest. The priority after the war was to repair the trust in the Army, which eventually led to the All-Volunteer force that we have today.
